Management System Certification by BEAC
Readers of this blog have learned of the important synergy between Quality and Environment Management Systems to support SOX implementation, audits, and sustainable maintenance. One specific area of synergy is joint quality / environmental / financial internal audits.
The Management System Certification Program by BEAC includes the Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) certification criteria built on ISO 19011:2002 - Guidelines for Quality and/or Environmental Management Systems Auditing - along with a combination of environmental, health, and safety science and technology, EHS management systems standards, and auditing principles and procedures.
Who is the BEAC? Board of Environmental, Health & Safety Auditor Certifications (BEAC) is an independent, nonprofit corporation established in 1997 to issue professional certifications relating to environmental, health, and safety auditing and other scientific fields. BEAC was originally created as a joint venture between The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) and the Auditing Roundtable, Inc.(Roundtable).
What is CPEA? The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) has formally approved recognition of the professional accomplishments of the Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) and further acknowledges that the CPEA designation has been accepted as a designation for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam, Part IV, Professional Recognition Credit.
So internal environmental auditors working with internal quality auditors using ISO 19011 have a professional path to BEAC Management System certifications, which places them on the path for the IIA's Certified Internal Auditor when they receive the experience of internal financial audits.
